Gain essential skills to navigate coastal waters by day and night. From mastering charts and navigating with precision to understanding tides, position fixing, course calculation, weather forecasting, meteorology and navigation aids, this course equips you with the knowledge and practical skills needed for coastal sailing. This online theory course contains a revision section for the Day Skipper theory. You can also book the full Day Skipper shorebased course instead.
This course is designed for individuals who have some theory and practical knowledge but no formal tuition. While it is possible for novices to complete the course, it is not recommended. The Day Skipper revision section is self-paced, and the time to complete it depends on your current level of knowledge. We highly recommend to gain practical sailing experience at the Competent Crew level or CWO I before starting this course. Please note that the Day Skipper section in this course can be seen as a 'refresher'. This course is perfect if you already hold Vaarbewijs II or other International Certificate of Competentce (ICC).
The Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore section of the course takes approximately 50-60 hours, and it includes a long assessment consisting of three parts: IRPCS (1.5 hours), PassageMaking A (1.5 hours), and Passage Making B (2 hours).
There is an initial 6 months time limit to complete the course with a further 6 month extension available at a cost of an additional € 45,- fee.
You can book your course extension here: https://www.zeezeilers.nl/cursusaanbod/theoriedagen/rya-online-theory-coastal-skipper-yachtmaster-offshore/24025-extension-navathome-6-months
